It’s a good thing I am not trying to keep up with Daily blogs anymore, because I am off track!
I have been a little MIA lately without much time to blog. The last week or two have been full of long days at work and studying at night for finals. I’m looking forward to that 6 week break I get until the next class begins. More time to focus on fun – like cooking and training!
Today was an exciting day though so I decided to take a break from the grind and share!
Today I started trained for the deadlift and bench press competition that I want to do in April. It was a blast. I had not ever deadlifted or bench pressed before today so I am pretty pleased with what I was able to lift. Today, I was able to bench press 65lbs and dead lift 100lbs. I am really looking forward to the day when I can bench my body weight and deadlift over 200lbs.
We have a lot of work to do on form and technicalities of how the judges will be looking at the lifts but I think I am off to a great start! I didn’t think I would be able to dead lift 100lbs. My bench of 65 was difficult – I got the bar and 55 without a problem but that extra 10lbs was hard to get up. Thank goodness for my spotter and hubby for helping me get it up. I have never had upper body strength so I know that it is going to be harder to get the hang of bench pressing.
I am really excited to get stronger and share my journey with all of you reading this!
Now, my arms are quite sore from lifting this morning so I’m going to have to leave this at short & sweet for now, folks!
